About us

Our team comprises individuals who have all experienced the challenges of living without reliable electricity and access to clean cooking fuel while growing up in Africa. Like millions of others on the continent, we relied on various alternatives such as generators, kerosene lanterns, flashlights, candles, and firewood to navigate the inconsistent energy landscape.

This shared experience motivated our co-founder, Tolulope Amusat, to explore the potential of sustainable energy solutions. He conducted his bachelor’s thesis on the feasibility of using biogas as an alternative energy source for rural electrification in a local government area of Ibadan, Nigeria. His research revealed the significant renewable energy potential within Nigeria, highlighting an opportunity for impactful change.

With this insight, Tolulope invited us—Adom Amoah, Mukhtar Abubakar, Hendrix Lando, and Lionel Ilunga—to combine our diverse engineering backgrounds in a collaborative effort to address the pressing energy challenges facing Africa. Together, we are committed to finding innovative solutions that will foster a sustainable and equitable energy future for the continent.

Did You Know?

The statistics on energy access in Africa paint a dire picture: 600 million people are without electricity, and a staggering one billion lack access to clean cooking fuel, according to the International Energy Agency.

But these numbers represent more than just a lack of power; they represent a devastating health crisis. Household air pollution, largely from reliance on polluting cooking fuels, leads to an estimated 800,000 to 815,000 premature deaths every year in Africa. It is a crisis where women and children bear the heaviest burden.

At Pamodzi, we believe we have a profound moral obligation to help solve this urgent problem.
